Also create an xml file with the same name and with the following content: Inside the "mcgames" directory, create a directory with the name of the 2D game and inside copy your rom, normally in zip format, and a video in mp4, with the same names as the directory. So, for 2D Games it is necessary to carry out an "installation" of the game using an xml file. In this case "install" means that the database of the games it contains is created within the USB itself, and of course the roms and videos.ĢD games can only be installed while 3D games can be installed or only added. The separation of the OS and the games in different units allows us to "install" games on the USB in a relatively simple way. Install 2D or 3D GamesĪdding is not the same as installing. The types of ROMs supported are detailed in the attached document “ Install2DGamesXML”For each emulator. To add 3D Games, create within games / download a directory with the name of your game and copy inside your ROM with the same directory name. Step 3 - Create the directory "mcgames" in the root of the USB 1. Step 2 - Create the subdirectory "download" within "games" Step 1 - Create the directory "games" in the root of the USB Necessary material: USB memory in FAT32 or exFAT format This separation between OS and Games is very convenient. On the other hand, it is important to comment that these boards have an eMMC built into the 4GB board where the operating system (Android) runs, while the games go to a 32GB or 64Gb SD in the board's internal SD slot. This S812 motherboard despite being a bit old is the one that offers the best performance in the Pandora Box because its GPU is made up of 8 cores, which in 3D games results in a performance unmatched by other more modern motherboards. I haven't yet tried SDL MAME.The way to add games is somewhat complex but very powerful and much more functional than in previous models. The upshot is that I've gone back to MAME OSX. I found that more of my roms failed to play under OpenEmu than MAME OSX, after making the preferences correction identified by vickerrrs in an earlier post. In fairness, most games have only one joystick and fewer than six buttons, so OpenEmu should be fine. I tried crazy climber, which has two joysticks in the arcade version, and it just can't be played because the controls can't be mapped under OpenEmu. That works well enough for simple games like pac man or galaxian, which use a joystick and maybe a button or two, but arcade games that have complex controls might not be playable on OpenEmu. The mappings you choose apply to all games. OpenEmu only allows you to map the following: left, right, up, down, and buttons 1 through 6. ![]() MAME OSX allows you to map each of the arcade game's controls to your own controller. The area where OpenEmu fails to match MAME OSX is in the control mappings. No more using the tab key to get to the game control mappings as in MAME OSX. OpenEmu starts right up and has a fully graphical interface. (The regular OpenEmu build appears to emulate home consoles only.) OpenEmu even downloaded the mame "core" when it determined the core was not installed. Make sure you install the "Experimental" build or you will lack support for mame. ![]() ![]() OpenEmu installs seamlessly - just download it and place the app in your Applications folder. I tried OpenEmu as suggested by vickerrrs. ![]()
